Sand and Cement Rendering

Sand and cement render is the go-to mortar mix used for most exterior rendering applications. Made from sand, water, lime, and cement it makes for a strong long-lasting finish and can offer extra resistance against the elements.

At Griffin Plastering we provide sand and cement rendering for domestic and commercial properties, and we can also offer a range of finishes, from silky smooth to producing decorative effects with a variety of tools.

If you have damaged exterior plastering our team can usually make repairs to the affected areas, such as where the render has cracked or blown, and match the finish with your existing rendering.

Traditional Lime Rendering

Hydrated lime render is a traditional building material that is well-suited for use in the restoration and preservation of historic structures, such as grade I and grade II buildings. It is made from natural lime, sand, water, and either horsehair or other fibre, but no cement is used. Known for its breathability and ability to regulate humidity, lime render makes an ideal choice for use in older buildings, where it can help to prevent the build-up of moisture and mold.

At Griffin Plastering our team of experienced plasterers are skilled in the application of lime plaster rendering, and we use only the highest quality materials to ensure that your historic building is protected and preserved for years to come.

K Rend Silicone Rendering

K Rend is a modern, high-performance silicone render that is suitable for a wide range of applications. K Rend contains a silicone water repellent in the mix which is designed to reduce the amount of water absorbed on the rendered surface, and yet also allows water vapours to pass through freely to ensure that your building can still breathe.

K Rend has a natural looking finish, and thanks to its silicone base it’s more resistant to algae growth, keeping your property looking top-notch for longer. K Rend is available in a variety of colours and finishes, so for more information on this product get in touch and we can work together to decide the best option for your property.

Pebble Dash

Pebbledashing is one of the strongest and most weather resilient rendering methods that will stand the test of time. Originally from as early as the 1890s this approach became popular in the UK as a way to waterproof and refresh the outside appearance of homes and buildings.

At Griffin Plastering we offer traditional pebbledashing where we fully prepare the surface with plasticisers and waterproofers, and then use a solid foundation of sand and cement render, built up in layers. The final stage is where we dash the render with a mix of stone chippings and pebbles to create the unique effect.
